WHAT I WILL DO
ALEX'S STORY
I’m Alex Just, your local candidate standing to be your next MP.
I live in Farnham with my wife and three young children – our eldest attends our local state primary school.
I offer a new approach. I am a barrister, not a career politician – this is the first time I have run for public office.
After 14 years of the Conservatives and Lib Dems failing on so many of the big decisions, I cannot sit on the sidelines – there is too much we need to fix.
The country and our area needs a fresh start.
I have the energy, ideas and experience to get things done.
As a barrister, I’ve dedicated my career to standing up for working people and fighting to protect the rule of law.
As an education campaigner, I’ve worked with government and business, to give young people the skills they need to become confident communicators and respectful citizens.
Now I want to make a difference in the area I am proud to call home.
I want to serve our community and bring some integrity, honesty, and courtesy back into politics.
And I can win here! The Sunday Times/Survation ‘Spring Megapoll’ shows Labour are just 4% behind the Conservatives and 5% ahead of the Lib Dems in our new constituency.

FIGHTING AGAINST LOCAL EDUCATION CUTS
In total, schools in our area have suffered over £6.5m of budget cuts since 2010, averaging £422 per pupil.
We need to remember how badly the Tory and Lib Dem policy of austerity damaged our public services and impacted educational outcomes for our our children and young people.
GETTING ANSWERS ABOUT THE BORDON FUTURE SKILLS CENTRE
We need all the facts before any decisions can be made about what to do next with this £4 million facility.

CAMPAIGNING TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH
I have also been liaising with community groups who are measuring pollution in the River Wey. As your MP, I hope to work with local stakeholders to use new powers Labour will implement in government to make sure water companies clean up their act.
PROTECTING UK BUSINESSES DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The project worked with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution and guidelines were published in 7 languages to support lawyers around the globe who were responding to an unprecedented legal environment.
CHAMPIONING FREE SPEECH AND OPEN DEBATE GLOBALLY
I co-founded Vocalise - an education programme where trainee barristers teach prisoners and young offenders public speaking and debating skills. The project was awarded an Attorney General Pro Bono Award by Dominic Grieve KC in 2012.
SUPPORTING UKRAINIAN WOMEN IN THE UK
With the support of the University of Edinburgh University Business School we will help equip Ukrainian women living in the UK with the skills, insights, and networks to navigate Ukraine to a brighter future.
