Reboot our town centres and grow the local economy
- Give our local communities a Community Right to Buy and councils new powers to get empty shops, pubs and community spaces back into use.
- Scrap business rates and replace them with a system which doesn’t punish bricks and mortar businesses.
- Reform planning rules and recruit hundreds of extra planners to deliver the biggest boost to affordable housing in a generation while also enhancing local communities’ power and voice over how housing is built to best service local people.
- Take back control of local bus routes. Labour will allow every community to take back control of bus routes. Alex will use these new powers to reinstate the Bordon-Liphook Rail Bus Link and improve access to buses accross Farnham and Bordon.
- Kickstart a skills revolution with a new generation of Technical Excellence Colleges, offering people in Farnham and Bordon more high quality apprenticeships and training opportunities tailored to local jobs.
- Make work pay by introducing a new deal for working people and delivering a genuine living wage, banning zero hours contracts and ending fire and rehire. Creating well-paid jobs across all parts of our community will make working people better off and more secure.
